Slow journeys, more roadworks - Posted By Stuart Lawrence (boffolow) on 23rd Apr 10 at 3:32pm
New roadworks have hit Kingston again. To fix gas mains and sewage lines.
The two roads with works are Wood Street and Richmond Road.
Wood Street being the center of traffic travelling from over the bridge (Molesey, Hampton Court etc.) is now being the cause of major delays to car drivers travelling along Hampton Court Rd. Queues are reported to be as far back as Hampton Court Bridge. This work will continue until the 7th of May.
Richmond Road (or more specifically King's Road as reported by the BBC for Kingston/London) is also catering for stand still traffic due to sewage works. With both of these roads within a stone's throw of each other traffic jams are hitting their peak during the middle of the day and during rush hour when people are trying to get in and out of Kingston.
New tarmac laid by companies other than the council has proven to be a huge cause of pot holes due to a lack of the same quality and we can only wait for the end of these roadworks to see what damage has been done to main commuter roads through Kingston.
