Free Films: The Story of Guildford & The Cathedral on the Hill

The Circle Eight Film Group present the first of these two informative films looking at the story of Guildford starting as a riverside settlement in the 5th century to the modern University City that it is today.

The second documents the just under 4 decades it took to build Guildford Cathedral from the founding of the Diocese of Guildford in 1927 to its consecration in 1961. Using highly unseen archive footage, Circle Eight tells the story of the Cathedral showing the ups and downs behind the construction of Guildford’s most prestigious building. Before the building achieved fame in cult film 'The Omen' it has a storied and rich history.

Free 30 Minute Lunchtime Films at 1pm. Admission charges apply if you also wish to visit the landscape.
