MOTHER'S DAY EVENT IN THAMES DITTON IN MARCH
Molesey and District Antiques Society
British Studio Pottery emerged during the Arts & Crafts Movement. Before then, pottery tended to be strictly functional and made in factories or by gangs of potters working together in country potteries. The Martin Brothers, William Staite Murray and above all Bernard Leach led the way for the rise of the individual potter who made pieces that were considered to be art. The result has been a rich tradition of work, some of it already antiques and newer work that will be the antiques of the future. Linda Lambert, the publisher for the Visual Arts at A&C Black Publishers, will be giving an illustrated slide presentation about this tradition and how to go about collecting this exciting work.
