Lingfield lies in the bottom right corner of Surrey but is still easily accessible by train from London (route 18: see here for train times). A Public footpath takes you from the Station approach road through a dark lane to the Church and a row of houses, some dating back to 1500. Take time to view 15th Century Church then join a alleyway into main Town. By the village pond is the Towns Lock-up, last used in 1882 to give local tearaways time to ponder they crimes. Leaving town walk through Nature Reserve, with views North.



Leaving Reserve and Common use public footpaths to cross Sugham Farm. Some paths had detours on them and one near Ray Bridge had been cut across by fence with no sty, but farmland had plenty of areas for wildlife. At Moat Farm turn eastward along lane giving views south then continue north across more farmland toward Crowhurst Place. Here is great transition from countryside to manicured gardens, so subtly I hadn't realised I had left public footpath and ended up on bench overlooking Crowhurst House and Moat. House is Listed Building but couldn't find out if I was allowed to be their or not? ***PLEASE SEE REPLIES TO THIS POST BELOW*** After short rest followed roads (no pavements - some bits dangerous) to old bridge over railway line.



At Chellows Farm had to look-out for Footpath and found it went through very small paddock which had couple of ill looking cows and two orphan lambs, and from here back to Lingfield station walk was over farmland. Footpaths went through crops and cattle, which gave great views but also chance of getting close-up to hungry cows who thought I was farmer so I had to out sprint them to get to over fence sty.

Hi there, would just like to point out that there are no detours, nor have there been any, on any footpath on sugham farms land, but the footpath by ray bridge (not on sughams land) is still blocked with no style, and wish something would be done about it!

as you were unsure as to whether or not you should have been in the garden at crowhurst place
( which you should not as it is private property!!!) would it not have been more polite not to have taken a photo, invasion of privacy, why do you think you had the right to do that. people like you make people suspicious of legitimate walkers. It is obviously a private garden. from a veryangry crowhurst resident.

another thing the footpaths are very clearly marked, follow them in future. I would also sugest very stringly you remove the photo of the house.
