Meaning behind 2014 films
(Posted On: Mon 20th Jan 2014 at 09:50)
After going to see a long walk to freedom at the cinema the other day, it got me thinking what do you think of the new films for 2014?

No Spoilers. But the movie was very powerful and moving. However, I've noticed with a lot of the big films out this year they all have a very deep meaning behind them. For example 12 years a slave which is based on the slave-trade in the southern US. Even the Wolf of Wall Street, is about fraud (From the Odeon website hope that doesn't spoil anything).

I seem to remember big films last year being based mainly on action rather than deep meaning. Such as Gangster Squad and Pacific Rim. So any ideas on the sudden need for deep drama and meaning?
