Surrey's Failing Social Services (5th Mar 09 at 7:09pm UTC)
failing social services surrey
I've just heard the news of Surrey County Council's failing Social Services in Ofsted's recent report, and it's shocking to say the least. With a score of just 1 out of a possible 4, Surrey's Social Services have been branded inadequate. Doncaster, Milton Keynes and Haringey - previously held part responsible for the poor services that caused the Baby P scandal, have also been rated inadequate in Ofsted's 2008 results with a score of 1/4 for Children's Services.

With only 13 councils showing improvements for Children's Services last year, it was the only subject in which more councils declined rather than improved. But even with such poor results in other councils, it doesn't do much to take the spotlight of shame away from Surrey's poor results... Surrey County Council are trying to appeal against the result, but do you think this is a fair analysis of Surrey's Social Services?

Yes, true 1 out of 4. I had an appointment with a nurse regarding feeding problems with my child. I rearanged the entire day, asked childmainder to switch days around twice. Nurse did not turn up one of the explenations was "I did not realised I knocked to the different door" (we have 3 inch numbers on each door all over the place). Answering machine recording and no reply for days is what you get when you try contact them - I am talking about Weybridge.
