Snow Birth for Ducklings (9th Dec 10 at 3:41pm UTC) godalming
Two female Mallard Ducks have braved freezing temperatures as low as -7C to keep their nests safe and warm to be able to hatch their large families of ducklings.
The ducklings were discovered on Sunday 5 December by an assistant bird keeper who was surprised that the ducklings had hatched and survived.
Fleur Douetil owner of Busbridge Lakes near Godalming where this happened stated that "This is very unusual," and "It just shows what good mothers they are."
