| A History of Stoke Park (20th May 15 at 11:10am UTC) | | Stoke park has been the home of the Surrey County Show for a number of years. But what makes the park so unique to residents and why is it the Surrey County Show host.
To begin with Stoke Park is one of the largest parks in Guildford. The park and it's surroundings have remained in place since being laid out in the 18th century. The local council bought the park from Lord Onslow in 1925 to ensure the park was kept as local gathering place for residents.
The park went on to be the home of Old Guildford RFC before they merged with Godalming to become Guildford Rugby club. Although the park is still a strong remnant of youth rugby with the Juniors of Guildfordians Rugby playing there.
As well as sports pitches the park also features a number of woodlands areas, a crazy golf course, skating boarding ramps and a 5km Parkrun on most Saturdays.
We hope this has given you an insight into what makes the park so special. If you would like to find out more information about Stoke Park and the Surrey County Show - visit the county show website here.
