Kingston Christmas Market 2009 (10th Nov 09 at 10:37am UTC)
kingston

From 12th November 2009 to 27th December 2009

Ancient Market Place, Kingston-upon-Thames

For the fifth time and already kind of a tradition, Kingston's German Christmas Market comes back into town on the 12th November to the 27th December. Various festive decorated wooden stalls invite Kingstonians and their guests to discover great gifts, delicious food and traditional Christmas atmosphere including the famous mulled wine "Gluehwein". The market will be opened with the attempt to bake Kingston's largest "Christmas Stollen".
All visitors will have the chance to get their own slice from this mouthwatering cake and donate something towards a local charity to support their Christmas activities.

Media partner Radio Jackie will be on air live from the market and promote the whole event right towards Christmas.
This years market will have a late night Thursday special which includes offers from 5pm till 8pm, like 2 for 1 mulled wine at Santa's Pyramide Bar - the more than 8 meter high, 3 floor pyramide will be the heart of the market again. Beautifully decorated with more than 500 lights, it hosts Santa's Bar where different mulled wines, Erdinger wheat beer and Paulaner Lager is served.
For little guests, Santa has alcohol free children's punch every Sunday, which is served for free with a parents' order.
All Sundays will be specially prepared for families. There will be carol singers, face painter, jugglers or magicians to make sure you remember this festive experience.

Every day open from 10am till 8pm, you will enjoy delicious German Bratwurst from a charcoal BBQ, pick your Haribo Sweets and try tasty Black Forest Ham or Tilsiter Cheese.
Still searching for the right gift? The Christmas Market is the perfect place to go, handmade ceramics, unique crystals, festive decoration, amber jewellery, colourful hats, scarfs, gloves and many more will give you a big choice.
That's still not all, come and be surprised. Feel the Christmas atmosphere and enjoy your visit at the German Christmas Market.

I went to go and check this out yesterday evening. It was quite small, but it's only the first day so it might get a few more stands {Smile} I reckon it would be best on a weekend as there'll be more people around, adding to the atmosphere.

By the way, if you want a cheap, fast way of getting into Kingston, read my post about the Park and Ride bus service to Kingston, running from Chessington World of Adventures... It's perfect if you live anywhere south of Kingston.

My wife and i took our two children to the Kingston German Christmas market this morning and we were very disappointed. We would have been better going to blackbushe there were very few stalls and the entertainment that was meant to be happening at weekends was not there. {Sad} {Sad} The only thing that made the trip worth going was the stall selling hand painted glasses because we have been trying to match some glasses we bought 4 years ago and have now done so and found that they have a shop in Richmond. Thank you moon and star for making the trip worth while. {Smile}

We have couple of these shops with decorations around Surrey.
There is one in Chertsey and online shop based in Walton
it doesn't look like their English website is working but you can buy from their offices
They have nice displays. The finest selection of these decorations I've ever seen. They have even Cinderella Shoe
http://www.poltrader.com/acatalog/pantofelek-kopciuszka-bombka.html
and Father Christmas Chef http://www.poltrader.com/acatalog/mikolaj-kucharz-bombka.html
All hand made and hand painted with individual marks nothing like plastic junk from TESCO.
