The Challenge is a youth and community programme that inspires and connects young people across Britain to strengthen their communities. The Challenge programme runs in London, Surrey, the Midlands and Northwest England. As a youth and community programme, we have a particular interest in mentors being locally based if possible. This means that you could be working within your community alongside the young people from the same area.
Whatever your level of experience with young people, if you are passionate about making a difference to young people's lives, there's a role for you with The Challenge!
PROGRAMME LEADER Three or six weeks in July/August; £1,900 per 3-week role Be responsible for a large team of staff and 60 young people, including all personal development and discipline. ASSISTANT PROGRAMME LEADER Two, four or six weeks in the summer; £1,350 per two-week role Supporting the Programme Leader, the Assistant Programme Leader is responsible for the pastoral care and behaviour management of 60 young people.
SENIOR MENTOR Three or six weeks in July/August; £1,300 per 3-week role Facilitate, lead and pastorally care for a team of 12 participants, ensuring their safety and assisting their personal development through three weeks of intense and varied activities.
TEAM MENTOR Four or six weeks in July/August + weekends in September; £1,100 or £1,500 per role Support the Senior Mentor by befriending and supporting the personal development of 2 teams of 12 participants each, ensuring their safety, assisting their well-being and supporting them through multiple challenges. LOGISTICS PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT 14 weeks in July - September; £4,000 per role Logistics Officer roles are paid positions requiring good organisation and communication skills opportunities. Gain and demonstrate valuable management skills while ensuring programmes run successfully.
