10 Mile loop walk around Chipstead, Kingswood, Upper Gatton Park and Chipstead Bottom. | | This walk is a combination of a couple of walks mentioned in 'Rural Rambles in Surrey'.
Ramble starts with short climb from Holly Lane car park up into Park Downs (part of Banstead Commons), going through a tunnel of trees and joining the Banstead Countryside Walk heading west. After half mile of walking through woods, and having crossed road at dangerous corner, fine views open up South to Banstead Wood.
 
After trail crosses Holly Lane, walk takes sharp left and heads South through picturesque farmland, edging Ruffet Wood heading for Perrotts Farm. From Perrotts Farm head west again enjoying fine views across farmland untill taking sharp left and heading South into Kingswood.
 
This part of walk is pretty dour, hemmed in as you pass through Kingswood housing estates. Relief is only a short distance away, and after crossing Kingswood Golf Club you view countryside and can see upcoming short steep climb.
 
Again, trail gets a bit hemmed in but your kept company by local wide life residents untill opening out into yellow fields of rapesead.
 
We now head East through these rapesead fields heading for Upper Gatton Park and Woods. The Grounds of Upper Gatton would be nice place for packed lunch, as public footpath runs though it and sets you up for entering lovely woods. After leaving woods, and maybe seeing wild deer, views open up south-east, before we head North and back toward Chipstead.
After short sharp climb toward golfers we enter the woods skirting Surrey Downs Golf Club. Leaving woods you can continue walking into Banstead Woods - or as I did leave this for another day and follow road - Outward Lane - back to Chipstead BR.
